Getting Ready for the Holidays
It’s that time of year;
Halloween is a week away and Thanksgiving is in a month, so that means Christmas is 2 months away!
Are you ready? I’m so totally not! So, I’ve been thinking about what I need to do to get ready. Tonight when my daughter comes over we are going to finalize (that mean’s start) our Halloween plans. She has a 2 year old, so she will probably want to take him trick-or-treating. My two older kids who live with me, are going to a Christian concert downstate, so that leaves me, my hubby, my daughter and her two kids left with figuring out what we are doing.
I think I will stay home and pass out candy with my hubby while watching our 7 week old grandson so my daughter can take her 2 year old out. Yep, that sounds like a plan! Now I just have to buy candy to pass out and maybe a maybe a pumpkin or two.
Next is Thanksgiving. I really really want some new recipes for this Thanksgiving. We usually have a house full of family and have always done the traditional turkey, mashed potatoes, rolls, stuffing, corn, green bean casserole, salad, pumpkin pie, apple pie, pecan pie and/or cherry pie. I still want to do most of those, but am looking for some other dessert recipes, a fun veggie recipe, or a cool new salad. I will start looking on the Internet for those and start shopping, getting a little bit each week, so as to not break the budget.
Time to start getting ready for Christmas too! I am going to inventory my decorations, wrapping paper and baking ingredients, so I know what I need to get and what I don’t…again, not breaking the budget. I’m going to sit down and plan out the menu for Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas breakfast. Those are the two meals in which I have a house full of family again. Then I have to start my Christmas lists and start shopping!!!
Writing this article is getting me excited about the Holidays! I hope it gives you some inspiration and ideas too!
Happy Holidays!
