Success Cast #3 – Lynn Terry

Written by Nicole Dean

Lynn Terry is one of the most genuine, down-to-earth, hard-working, kick butt people that I have the honor to know.

Let me tell you a little about my friend.

Lynn and I had crossed paths many times over the years. In fact, a quick search on my personal blog for Lynn shows that we’ve been in each other’s “space” for some time.  (Lynn on my blog.)

We finally met a few weeks ago at Willie Crawford’s Birthday Bash which was held in Orlando. See?

Here we are:

Nicole Dean, Yvonne Lyon, Lynn Terry

Lynn Terry, Yvonne Lyon, Nicole Dean

Lynn was one of the presenters for the conference, and we got to be roommates for the weekend at the hotel. We at much sushi, stayed up WAY too late every night chatting and left after the conference, knowing that we’d be friends forever.

So, of course, when I decided to interview Successful People, she was one of the first on my list.

I could tell you all about Lynn, but instead, I’ll point you to her websites so you can explore them and learn all about this remarkable friend of mine.

The audio recording of our interview is at the end of this blog post. Just look for the “play” button and listen. It’s free!

WOW! Great show Nicole & Lynn. I have 2 pages of notes just from this show about things that I personally need to work on.

Thx so much! My goals now

    1. Stop Standing in My Own Way
    2. Stop Making Decisions Based on $ Alone!
    3. Find My Sense of Urgency & Start DOING!

Now, I’m off to have a call with Nik (I hope) because I feel good things coming my way albeit scared I’m gonna make it happen MY way!

Wonderful interview with two of my favorite people.

This podcast gave me hope that I could make $2-3K/mo just by taking action and DOing.

I loved Lynn’s definition of Success because it’s truly the same for me.

Thanks for taking the time to share

Thanks so much for uploading this success cast with Lynn Terry who is one of my favorite people and a top of mind person when I think of success. The reason I admire her so much is not only for the success she achieved but for her inner fortitude and positive thinking that transformed her situation. She is definitely someone that moms can learn a lot from.
    Thanks again,
    Eren

Hi d’ ho ladies (Lynn and Nicole)

After kidding you both about the pink and blond Acer minis, I had to post to you how much I admired your interview. (so relaxed and natural)

Lots of pearls of wisdom there, not to mention the feathers and the wet willies. lol

I almost felt embarrassed to be listening because it came across like just girl talk. (in a good way)

Like Nicole I need to download the interview and load it on my mp3 where I can listen to it again and again.

You both appear to be very grounded in this fast paced internet world and I really admire that.

    Thank you both for sharing.

    Smiles 🙂

    Gary

p.s. I hope I didn’t offend either of you with the Acer mini banter and I hope you know that it was all meant in fun. (I am (was) a blond too you see)lol

Nicole and Lynn thank you for having this conversation – it will benefit so many people. I agree with everything said from how to approach our businesses to setting goals for real happiness. Your discussion was frank, real and inspiring and I highly recommend that ANYONE starting or running a business online today should listen to this podcast.

    Hello Nicole and Lynn,

I really appreciate your interview and the help you are giving freely to everyone who wants to start making a living on-line. I know what you say works, but I would like to know what your ideas are regarding other spheres of life and what differences you face with each – or if you have ever tried.

For instance, my sister recently overcame Cancer and really got fired up and made a blog to help women. I have been helping her – and in terms of conversion – the rates are beyond anything ever talked about for affiliates. Affiliates for God has a great commmision of fulfillment and I wondered how you would go about helping a blog in all that you know how to do.

I know it’s not showing mom the money, but it really is a blast and I plan to help my sister out a lot more in the coming months.

Any ideas? I am all ears and excited about what you think.

    The blog is at: http://pbc-flo.blogspot.com/

We are just starting out and I plan to host a site with the whole SEO bit when we get more content. I wish you all a blessed day.

    Sincerely,

    Ken

    Nicole,

Great to hear your interview with Lynn. Getting into action is what came through most. My favorite part of your interview was when you two laughed about bottling up a serum that gives the feeling of urgency, clears the fog, lights a fire underfoot to execute ACTIONS that lead to results. Million dollar idea right there!

So glad to have found people like you and Lynn, and other online peers, that encourage me to realize my own reason for urgency, to move out of complacency, to move forward no matter what, to focus and take a chosen project all the way to profit. Thanks.

    Mary

    Great interview ladies!

Lynn has been my mentor over the years and is so kind and patient. So giving of her time and expertise.

I need to make a survival goal and for once get out of my own way. I’m no where near where I should be at this point and things must change. Thanks to you both for being so willing to share your experiences and tips plus push us to just do it.

    You ladies really do ROCK!

Thank you ALL for commenting. It really does reaffirm to me that you guys already know WHAT to do. It’s just gaining the confidence and focus to do it. I KNOW most of you and I KNOW how amazing you are. And, those I don’t know yet – I look forward to getting to know you here.

Reach for the stars, my friends!

I also would like to thank Lynn for posting about the interview on her blog. The comments over there from both men and women, single & married, young and experienced 😉 – all tell me one thing “LYNN TERRY – YOU ROCK!”

Here’s her post. Check it out after you listen –

I agree with Lynn – I’m a simple person as far as my needs go. I don’t need or want a huge house or a fancy car. I want to store up EXPERIENCES and MEMORIES, not extravagant material things.

The Internet Marketing lifestyle can get you a comfortable living. Once you figure out how to make $1 online — well, you’ve cracked the code. Do that more. 😉

However you define success — I wish you all that and more!

    Nicole

Thank you – and Nicole, thank you for the interview. I really enjoyed it! I had been thinking how great it would be if we could share our conversations from Orlando with others… and this was that perfect opportunity to do that.

And here’s another little dose of inspiration for you:

Remember @RyanMoran? He was a special guest on one of my webinars this last year, and featured on my blog as well – he’s a college student who has been earning 5 figures+ per month from his DORM ROOM! Not only did he achieve that… but today, he is wearing his cap and gown and graduating from college. What an inspiration for the rest of us!

Just wanted to thank you two, that was one of the best, down to earth conversations on IM I have heard yet! Nothing turns me off quicker than pics of fancy cars and dollars bills floating all over.
    Thank you Lynn and Nicole

I have a question for Lynn.

In the recording, you talking about the four steps to starting up a niche business.

    Pick a topic
Choose a domain name and register it
    Get web hosting
    Install WP and start blogging

Now, is that the site – a blog? Or is the blog on the site?

Also, I assume you are only working with niches that you know a good deal about, since you are going to have to blog about them?

    Thanks!

  16. Lynn Terry says:
    April 29th, 2009 9:01 am

    Hi Laurie,

I prefer to set up sites in niches or about topics/products that I am familiar with just because it’s easier and more fun. But I dont always… See: Passion vs Profit

Each of my affiliate sites are set up a little different since I am constantly testing methods & strategies. Most of them do involve a blog or I use WordPress to create a site that looks more like a traditional website sometimes.

Here’s my checklist for how to start a wordpress blog: http://www.clicknewz.com/1872/how-to-start-a-wordpress-blog/

And this post (along with the comments) is a good start for choosing niches or markets:
Frustrated with market research or finding niches?

    Hope that helps!

Thank you, gals! What a blessing this interview is to all of us. Action is so elemental in this business and I am always astounded at how often I don’t take it, as well as when I hear how others don’t.

I love the first comment, Nicole, by Arika “Find MY sense of urgency” — mine probably will be more than a tickle feather.

My take away idea from the chat is this: thinking of daring my ebook writing list to set up a pre-sale page forcing them to make a commitment to HAVE to take action. When the have-to is present it’s hard to be complacent!

Thanks for this conversation. My husband told me this weekend I need to get a job outside the home because we need at least $1000 a month ($2000-$3000 would be amazing!). I still don’t understand much of this but you are giving me hope. Does anyone have a step-by-step how to or where to go. I am a self-starter just don’t know where to look for non-scams.
