Many Work at Home Moms are debating whether or not to
begin blogging. Thank you to Kai for this informative piece about
blogging.
To Blog or Not to Blog..
It's a funny thing about blogs. One minute they are
edgy, cutting edge, and considered too...base for most websites, and
suddenly EVERYONE has one.
So, should you get a blog?
Well, yes and no. The question isn't 'should I have a blog?' - more
accurate is 'will I use my blog in a way that helps my site?'
Not all blogs are created equal. I remember wandering over to a direct
selling site and finding this really cleverly titled blog. And ALL she
did was complain about her lack of customers. I didn't want to buy from
her.
Another site I found had a blog that advertised 'final few places of...'
and that was ALL that was in the blog. Like the ads, I switched off.
Many sites though, I've found, are great. Running an aromatherapy
company? Tell me about the uses of aromatherapy, and how it's helped you
personally - tell me about your passion, what the scents evoke in you.
Selling like that is much more effective than whining or constantly
running ads.
So yes, have a blog, and use it to promote what your site is about -
without advertorialising, and sometimes, sprinkle in some personal and
personable stuff. It'll make me want to come back, cause everyone likes
to see what other people are doing.
